It’s examination of history and interrogating the archive was stirring and I think the blurb says it best in capturing how much “the personal is also intensely political.” It made me think of reading BLAKWORK by Alison Whittaker and Jeanine Leane’s WALK BACK OVER-what a collection! 🔥🔥🔥 definitely read the acknowledgments at the end of the book to find out more about when the poems were written. This was beautiful and heartbreaking and intimate. It’s examination of history and interrogating the archive I am big fan of Birch’s fiction writing, and loved reading THE WHITE GIRL-it’s refreshing to read a male author who can write women characters so beautifully and completely whole! In this, Birch writes people and the impact they’ve had on him, in such a tender and nuanced way.
